December Dreams

the year of the tree
The Legend of the Christmas tree...
Once a long time ago, in England, a monk, named Wilfred wanted to spread christianity to his Druid companions.  So he was with them and he struck down a huge oak tree, (which was a symbol of worship in the Druid religion).  As the oak tree fell to the earth, it split into four pieces, and from its center there grew a young fir tree, pointing a green spire toward the sky.  The crowd gazed in amazement.  Wilfred let his axe drop and turned to say;  "this little tree shall be your Holy tree tonight.  It is the wood of peace for you to build your houses.  The evergreen leaves are the sign of endless life.  And see how it points to the heavens,  let this be called the tree of  the Christ Child.  Gather around it and it will be surrounded by loving gifts and acts of kindness.

Merry Christmas to you!

Thankful Tidings

Thanks to our Veterans

A time to reflect, a time to count our blessings, a time to be quiet, a time to be thankful, and a time to share ourselves with others.

Soft September 2018

Soft September Light

The 100 days of summer are over.  The sun has shifted from directly overhead to a 45 degree angle here in Montana, so shadows are longer, days are shorter.  Schools have opened and new beginnings are happening while the birds flock up telling time again.  I always seem to look for a bit of solitude and reflection while riding through the yellowing grasses, fall-colored leaves, and cooler, soft-lighted skies.

Shipping calves soon, new beginnings for them too.

Dog Days of Summer

August is usually hot and dry but not this year, humid, hot, greenish, and hazy are this years' adjectives. Hardly finished first cutting before August began and with so much water and sunshine we will begin second cutting in three weeks.
